Thesis Statement

YuhJaYah is a women’s apparel collection with the mission to change women’s perception and perspective on what it feels like to be both beautiful and powerful. Accentuating the feminine, elegance, and sexiness women naturally exude including masculine elements that allow women to equally look and feel powerful, dominant, and in-charge. Keeping the color palette neutral to eliminate the stereotype of feminine and masculine colors but standing alone. Focusing on simplistic silhouette’s while adding details through texture and volume. Displaying the contrast between the two genders through materiality such as adding soft pleats to heavy-duty leather or making the silhouette of a dress on a classic man’s trench coat. Upcycling is a key component to this collection as a lot of these pieces are made originally men’s garments that were taken apart and deconstructed into woman’s wear. Utilizing classic men’s styles and constructing feminine pieces that illustrate both masculinity and femininity. Through this collection, women can feel empowered and beautiful at the same time.
